Electrical Engineer Description
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Software engineers to design specialized electrical systems for printing and web-handling machines
- Create and document Electrical Schematics that are legible and useful for assembly, end users, and field support.
- Use NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A as a guideline for building quality electrical cabinets that meet customers’ requirements
- Successfully implement Servo Drives and Motors to obtain maximum performance and reliability
- Design and layout standards-compliant safety systems for safeguarding web handling equipment and discrete automation equipment
- Interface with Mechanical and Software teams to select and implement sensors and sensing devices that improve quality and reliability
- Layout discrete wiring and IP-based control systems across small to large equipment, and interface with external equipment
- Support assembly, sourcing, and manufacturing through the build process
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with little supervision
Skills and Experience
- Electrical Schematic CAD – primarily SolidWorks Electrical
- Knowledge of NFPA79 and UL508A
- Experience relevant safety standards – ANSI B65, ANSI B11, ISO 13849
- Knowledge of electrical best practices for electrical noise suppression and isolation
- Comfortable working with low voltage (24VDC) and line voltage (230V/480V) systems
- Experience designing electrical cabinets for servo controllers and amplifiers
- Experience designing with and selecting transformers, power supplies, disconnect switches, circuit breakers, fusing, terminal blocks and accessories
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 2-3 years documented/verifiable experience
- Ability to travel as needed
